Are you protecting your “Personal Brand?” When I was young,
it was called "Reputation." In other words, what you say and do,
especially on the Web, can remain with you for the rest of your life.
Think before you speak, then speak words of kindness.
Words can be used for hurt or help, make sure the words you write or speak helps others.
"Do not judge, lest you be judged." This is important premise to follow. Most of the bad things in this world stem from our judgment of others. We seem to think we can judge others, but they are not supposed to judge us. Think about how much trouble we can get into when others are judging us.
Keep personal things to yourself if you do not want the whole world to know about it. Evidently, if you are essentially a nobody, you can become a somebody if you tell a disgustingly story.
You can take naked pictures of yourself or let someone else take naked pictures and you might end up on the Web or even on television. Or, you might just become the object of some sick person's fantasy.
Think about what you are doing. Would you want your children or your parents to see or hear everything that you do? Why are strangers less important than your family? You may meet them someday, and if you do, what do you expect them to think of you? Are you someone they would want to introduce to their family? Are you someone they would recommend to their friends or business associates?
In a nutshell, what you do means something and you are responsible to make sure that it means something good, kind, and right.
We are all visitors in this life and we want to make sure that when we leave this life, we leave a good impression. We want to make sure that our children do not feel like they have to go through their life apologizing for your actions.
Be the person you want your children to be.
